I like this version very much. The horror is presented very well by the way how the plot is unfolded and the crucial corpse and darkness scenes are shown, and the fact that the end is happy and sad in one is also shown and not just overlooked. Unlike, I'm afraid, in the Relic I saw in free TV. The latter shows absolutely no difference about it, even when Margo learns about the monster's true identity, it remains the same monster in her eyes as if nothing had happened. She still yells a hateful 'Go to hell!' while the monster burns to death in a fire ignited by herself without a second thought or the slightest remorse. This is how the movie ends, and the fist scene shows a group of men sitting by a fire in the jungle and attacked by a monster, however quite different that the main one. And the ill-fated professor was called Paul Whitney. Are there two or more different Relic movies? Or is this the original script that just didn't make it to the end without radical changes (which is improbable because there are too much crucial differences in structure and detail)? Could somebody clarify it, please?

It's just that the producer changed the original script with other two writers and the result is the movie that you watch on TV. Curse this original version is much better.

I enjoyed the movie alot ever since I first saw it as a teenager back in'97, and the darkness used in the film was quite effective, although the wish the film was about 15-20 minutes longer. With that said, I wasn't aware of the original script up until maybe a decade ago when I first read it, and to my surprise, the unused script was even more effective and even scarier. Why changes were made, we'll never know, but it's definitely a good read.
